Overly large and heavy breasts can make you look disproportionate or cause considerable physical pain and discomfort. Dr. Lalezar uses advanced surgical techniques to reduce breast volume and size according to your specific desires and anatomy.

Reduce Breast Size & Elevate Proportions

Breast reduction, also known as reduction mammoplasty, is a surgical procedure that reduces the size and weight of the breasts by removing excess skin, fat, and glandular tissue. It is a common procedure among women with large, heavy breasts that cause physical discomfort, such as neck and back pain, shoulder indentations from bra straps, and skin irritation under the breasts. Breast reduction can also improve the overall shape and appearance of the breasts, giving them a more proportionate and balanced look.

Reasons To Reduce Breast Volume:

  • Physical discomfort caused by large, heavy breasts
  • Neck and back pain from overly large breasts
  • Shoulder indentations from bra straps
  • Skin irritation under the breasts
  • Difficult to find clothing that fits properly
  • Asymmetrical breasts (breasts that are different sizes)
  • Breast hypertrophy (abnormally large breast size)

Your Recovery Journey

After breast reduction, you must allow your body to heal. You will experience some swelling, bruising, and discomfort, but this can be managed with pain medications. You may have some numbness around the incisions, which is normal and should resolve over time. Dr. Lalezar will provide detailed aftercare instructions, including how to care for the incisions. You must wear a special surgical bra to support the breasts and help them heal properly.

During your recovery, you will need to avoid strenuous activities and heavy lifting and take some time off work and other normal activities. Most patients can return to work and normal activities within a week or two, but strenuous workouts and heavy lifting should be avoided for 6 to 8 weeks. As you recover, you will need to visit your surgeon for follow-up appointments to monitor your progress and ensure that the incisions heal properly.

How Breast Reduction Works

Breast reduction is performed under general anesthesia and takes about 3 to 5 hours. The surgeon makes an incision around the areola (the dark area surrounding the nipple), down the center of the breast, and/or along the crease beneath the breast to remove excess skin, fat, and glandular tissue and reshape the remaining tissue to create more proportionate breasts. The nipples and areolas are typically repositioned. This procedure helps you achieve proportional breasts that conform to your goals.

The Goals of Breast Reduction:

  • Reducing the size and weight of overly heavy breasts
  • Relieving physical discomfort from heavy breasts
  • Improving the overall shape and appearance of the breasts
  • Making the breasts look more proportionate and balanced
