Eyelid surgery is a comprehensive surgery that reverses the signs of aging on the upper eyelids, lower eyelids, or both. Dr. Lalezar uses cutting-edge surgical techniques to revitalize the eyelids and restore your youthful appearance.

How Age Affects Your Eyelids

As we age, the skin around our eyes can become loose and saggy. This can be caused by various factors, such as genetics, sun exposure, and natural aging. As we age, our skin loses collagen and elasticity, which can make the skin become thin and saggy. The muscles around the eyes can also weaken, leading to drooping or hooded eyelids. Eyelid surgery can reverse these signs of aging, making your eyes look revitalized and youthful.

What is Eyelid Surgery (Blepharoplasty)?

Eyelid surgery, also known as blepharoplasty, is a cosmetic surgery that improves the appearance of the eyelids. It can be performed on the upper and lower eyelids and is often done to correct sagging or drooping skin, puffiness, and wrinkles around the eyes. The procedure generally involves making strategic incisions to trim excess skin and fat deposits, making the eyelids look smoother and more youthful. Blepharoplasty can be combined with other facial procedures, such as a facelift or brow lift.

Types of Eyelid Surgery

Upper Blepharoplasty
Upper blepharoplasty improves the appearance of the upper eyelids. It involves the removal of excess skin and fat from the upper eyelids to create a more youthful and refreshed appearance. The incisions for upper blepharoplasty are typically made in the natural creases of the eyelids to minimize scarring. Upper blepharoplasty corrects drooping eyelids and wrinkles.

Lower Blepharoplasty
Lower blepharoplasty improves the appearance of the lower eyelids. It involves the removal of excess skin, fat, or both from the lower eyelids. The incisions are made below the lower lash line or inside the lower eyelid. This procedure corrects sagging or puffiness in the lower eyelids, deep tear troughs, dark circles, and other signs of aging.

The Goals of Blepharoplasty:

  • Improving the appearance of the eyelids
  • Removing excess skin and fat from the upper or lower eyelids
  • Creating a more youthful and refreshed look
  • Correcting vision problems caused by excess skin on the upper eyelids
  • Reducing wrinkles and fine lines around the eyes
  • Reducing puffiness, under-eye hollows, dark circles, and deep tear troughs

Dr. Lalezar’s Surgical Technique

Dr. Lalezar performs a highly personalized eyelid surgery after a thorough consultation and evaluation. He examines your eyelids, discusses your goals, and curates a personalized surgical plan, which may include upper eyelid surgery, lower eyelid surgery, or both. During upper eyelid surgery, he makes incisions in the natural creases of the upper eyelids. During lower eyelid surgery, he makes incisions below the lower lash line or inside the lower eyelid. After making incisions, he removes excess skin and fat deposits from the eyelids.

Your Recovery Journey

After eyelid surgery, you will experience some swelling and bruising around the eyes. This is normal and should resolve within a few weeks. You must avoid strenuous activities, wear sunglasses to protect your eyes from the sun, and avoid makeup for a few weeks. Most patients can return to work and other normal activities within a week, but strenuous workouts should be avoided for at least 4 weeks. Please follow the surgeon’s post-operative instructions to ensure a smooth and successful recovery.
